Houston Technology Center has opened a satellite office at Republic Square, a redevelopment of the former ExxonMobil Chemical campus in the Energy Corridor.
Owner Third Palm Capital has been adding resources for small businesses on the 35 acre campus at 13501 Katy Freeway.
HTC West, which will focus on energy technology innovation, will host an open house Jan. 18 to bring together entrepreneurs and potential investors.
"We're thrilled to bring Houston's startup ecosystem west to Republic Square," Mike Mueller, director of HTC West, said in an announcement.
"With thousands of white-collar workers laid off in this current oil and gas cycle – many living in close proximity to this site – we see tremendous potential with entrepreneurs in waiting."
Headquartered in Midtown, Houston Technology Center has satellite offices at Johnson Space Center and at HARC in The Woodlands.
Early next year, Republic Square will open 20,000 square feet of collaborative Workstyle space by Boxer Property. Tenants will be able to use common area lounges, meeting spaces and Wi-Fi.
